The New Zealand Gran Fondo and Corto Fondo 2021
The New Zealand Gran Fondo is a must do on any cyclists race calendar. This year the course follows the exact route that NZ’s elite riders will follow in their road race the following day.
The 103km course is designed as a challenge for all who take part; if you are finding the Maungakawa hill climb easy, you should be going faster. Timing mats are set up to capture the Kings and Queens of the Mountain (Maungakawa) in various age brackets.
The 67km is a new distance being offered in 2021 for those looking for a shorter challenge than the 103km course. E-bikes welcome.
The 18km Corto Fondo is a chance for perhaps the first timers, mature riders or youthful participants to be part of the ride and the atmosphere. This ride requires an adult to accompany any children under the age of 11 for safety reasons. Teams can enter a group of 5 people, the categories include: adults/corporate, youth (aged 11 – 15 yrs old). family (must include 1 primary school aged child and 1 adult).
