Kathmandu Coast to Coast 2025
Held every February, the Kathmandu Coast to Coast race starts on the West Coast, at Kumara Beach and traverses the width of the South Island, crossing the main divide and finishing on the East Coast with the finish at the Pier on New Brighton Beach in Christchurch. The race is one of the world's longest running multi-sports events, founded in 1983.
The 243km event consists of 2.2km run, 55km bike, 30.5km mountain run, 15.5km bike, 1.3km run, 70km kayak then a final 69.5km ride to the finish line at the Pier on New Brighton Beach in Christchurch.
There are a number of different entry options. The one day "Longest Day" challenge is for experienced endurance athletes who complete the 243km in one day. The two day challenge sees competitors camp overnight after the Mountain Run stage before completing the kayak and final ride the next day. There are also options for two day tandem teams, schools and corporate challenges as well as 30.5km mountain run.
