After the unfortunate cancellation of Trail Trilogy 2023, the event will be back on the 20th of October 2024. The event is a trail running event held along the Hauraki Rail Trail with all distances finishing in Waihi. Distances offered include 9km run / walk, a half marathon, marathon as well as a 55km and 100km ultra. 

The 9km Race the Train event travels from Waikino to Waihi and includes a train ride from Waihi to the start at Waikino. The course follows the Ohinemuri River back to the finish line.

The Half Marathon travels from Paeroa to Waihi including the 1km long train tunnel in the Karangahake Gorge.

The marathon travels from Te Aroha to Waihi through dairy farms and the beautuful Karangahake Gorge.

The 55km ultra travels from Thames to Waihi and the 100km is an out and back course from Waihi to Kopu and back to the Waihi Train Station. The 100km ultra can be run solo or as a team relay.
