The Xterra Auckland Trail Run Series is a series of six trail runs that take place in and around Auckland during the winter months. The series aims to encourage people to give trail running or walking a go and to get out and about during the colder months. All events in the series offer a short and medium run or walk as well as a long and super long trail run.

Race Four of the Xterra Auckland Trail Run Series takes place at Riverhead Forest. Riverhead Forest provides a network of trails through pine plantation forest. Runners can expect mud and clay.
