The Ring of Fire Ruapehu will take place on the 12th of March 2022. The 73km Volcanic Ultra Run is an incredibly tough physical and mental challenge that only carefully prepared individuals will take on.
The Kaikōura Whale Run has been postponed to the 12th of March 2022 due to Covid-19 in our community.
The Martinborough Round the Vines event will take place on the 12th of March 2022.
Round the Vines is a fundraiser for Martinborough School. The event offers a half marathon and 10km which can be run or walked.
The Tararua Mountain Race traverses the Southern Crossing tramping route from Kaitoke to Otaki Fork over the course of 1 day instead of the usual 3-day hard tramp. The route is point to point and with a total distance of 35.
The 90 Mile Beach Te Houtaewa Challenge will take place on the 18th and 19th of March 2022 in Northland. The event offers runners and walkers the chance to take on the Marathon, Half Marathon, 42km team relay or 6km walk on the awesome 90 Mile Beach.
The Discover Waitomo Trail Run, due to take place on the 13th Of November 2021, has been postponed to the 19th of March 2022 due to Covid-19 restrictions. The event offers four distances including 6km, 11km, half marathon and 35km.
A challenging Half Marathon and 14km courses - it has a couple of good climbs in there, but these can be forgiven when you consider you are running or walking in pure paradise. Your climbs lead you to magic views over bay and beyond.
The Northburn 100 will return in 2022 on the 19-20th March.
The event offers a 100 miler, 100km and 50km ultra distance runs as well as a marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km and a kids race. The 100 miler (161km) includes approximately 10,000m of elevation and descent.
The 42 km Marathon Challenge begins at North Hukatere beach and follows the ultramarathon route to Ahipara.

Run Albany will return on the 20th of March 2022. The event is the third and final race in the North Shore Run Series. Distances on offer throughout the series include 15km, 10km, 5km & 2km.
The Foundation Clinic Mauao Half Marathon, due to take place on the 11th of September 2021, has been postponed to the 20th of March 2022 due to Covid-19.
The Queenstown Alpine Grind will take place on the 26th of March 2022 at Coronet Peak.
The event includes 3 running events on a variety of terrain including mountain trails, single track, ridge line running, 4wd tracks and ski trails. Distances include 4. 43km, 8. 86km & 13.
The Marina 2 Marina, due to take place on the 9th of October 2021, has been postponed to the 26th of March 2022 due to the uncertainty around Covid-19.
We Run the Night will take place on the 26th of March 2-21.
The distances include 10km and 5km. Runners are encouraged to wear their own bright lights, to dress up and run the night. All distances can be run or walked.
The Cape Brett Challenge will take place on the 1st and 2nd of April 2022.
Taking place in Rawhiti, Bay of Islands, the Cape Brett Challenge includes three distances of trail running. Choose between the Rakaumangamanga 2km marathon, Whangamumu 17km or the Pukehuia 7km.
The Riverhead Backyard Relaps Ultra is a last person standing format event where participants run one 6. 7km lap an hour until the last person is standing. The event also includes an 8 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour teams relay.
Returning on the 3rd of April 2022, the Pay What You Want Tauranga Half Marathon offers a Half Marathon, 15km, 10km, 5km and 1km. The Half Marathon course has been measured to IAAF standards and is a two lap course which includes Beach Road, Harbour Drive and Kulim Park.
Mt Oxford Odyssey has a provisional date of the 9th of April 2022.
Mt Oxford Odyssey offers a 15km Trail Run or Tramp, a 21km Half Marathon Run or Tramp over the mountain, the Further Faster 32km Mountain Challenge, or the Salewa Mountain Marathon.
The Christchurch Marathon will return on the 10th of April 2022. Inspired by the 1974 Commonwealth Games marathon, the ASB Christchurch Marathon has been the South Island’s premier marathon event since 1981.
The Alpine Lodge Loop the Lake is a fantastic introduction to trail running - many runners have had their first taste of off road running by completing this one. The course is an anticlockwise circuit of Lake Rotoiti commencing from the Lake Rotoiti waterfront. Approximately 25km.
The Arrowtown Autumn Festival Fun Run will return in 2022 on the 24th of April. There are two running and walking events to choose from. ‘Tobins Rush' is a 5km run to the top of Arrowtown’s popular walking track and back.
The Routeburn Classic Adventure Run held in late April annually is an exclusive event and limited to 350 lucky athletes. The track is 32 Kilometers long and climbs to 1127meters above sea level.
The Omokoroa Coastal Challenge, due to take place on the 31st of October 2021, has been postponed to the 1st of May 2022 due to Covid-19.
Taking place on Omokoroa Beach, the Omokoroa Coastal Challenge offers a Half Marathon, 10km, 5km as well as a Kids Dash.
This iconic event offers a choice of three run or walk distances – 6km, 8. 7km and 21. 1km which starts and finishes in the heart of the coastal town of Paihia.
The Hanmer Half Marathon will renturn on the 7th of May 2022. The Hanmer Half Marathon takes competitors on a unique journey through Hanmer Forest amongst amazing mountain scenery. This is a great pre race for the Christchurch Marathon.
The Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon will take place on the 7th of May 2022. The Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon takes place amoungst the vineyards in the gorgeous Marlborough region in New Zealand. The event offers a 12km and Half Marathon to both runners and walkers.
Australasia's oldest marathon event, the Rotorua Marathon will take place on the 7th of May 2022. Celebrating its 57th running, the event offers a Marathon, Half Marathon as well as a 10km and 5. 5km run or walk.
The T42 will take place on the 7th of May 2022. The iconic event takes place in beautiful Tongariro National Park and offers trail run and walking options as well as a mountain bike or eBike off-road adventure.
The South Island Ultra Marathon will be held on the 14th of May 2022 on the West Coast Wilderness Trail on the West Coast of the South Island.
The New Zealand Sotheby's International Realty Hawke's Bay Marathon will take place on the 14th of May 2022. Distances on offer include a marathon, half marathon, 10km and 3km kids run.
Eukanuba Tails and Trails, due to take place on the 26th of September 2021, has been postponed to the 15th of May 2022 due to Covid-19.
The Whitianga Marathon will return on the 21st of May 2022 at Buffalo Beach Reserve. Walk or run at your own pace. There are distances available for everyone, from a 5km fun run to the new premier 42km marathon.
The Huntly Half Marathon will take place on the 29th of May 2022. The event includes a half marathon, 10km, 5km as well as a 2km kids run. All distances can be run or walked.
The WUU2K will take place on the 16th of July 2022. The WUU2K or 'Wellington Urban Ultra 2K', is a trail-running endurance event around the hills that surround New Zealand's capital city. The event offers a marathon and 62km Ultra Marathon as well as a 2-person team relay event.
The 2021 Taupo Marathon will take place on the 6th of August 2022. The annual event offers a Marathon Run, Half Marathon and 10km and 5km run / walk.
This is a fun event with options to run or walk either the Half Marathon, 11km or 4km. The course starts and finishes at the Te Ahu Centre.
The Dun Run, due to take place on the 28th of August 2021, has been postponed to the 28th of August 2022 due to Covid-19 restrictions. Rugged but runnable - up into the “ Backwoods of Nelson” and along the sub alpine mineral belt.
Trail Trilogy is a trail running event held along the Hauraki Rail Trail with all distances finishing in Waihi. The event has been postponed to the 11th of September 2022 due to Covid-19 uncertainties.
The Hutt Marathon, due to take place on the 12th of September 2021, has been postponed to the 11th or 18th of September 2021 due to Covid-19 (Date to be confirmed).
The Queen Charlotte Relay is one of the oldest road relays held in New Zealand and still running on a State Highway. Taking place on the 17th of September 2022, the event is a 5 leg relay from Picton to Havelock and is open to runners and walkers.
Race Tekapo will return in 2022 on the 17th of September! (Date TBC)
The event is an exciting destination race taking place in the heart of Tekapo. Enjoy breathtaking lake and mountain views while running through Lake Tekapo, Mt John and the Regional Park.
After the unfortunate cancellation of the 2021 Crater Rim Ultra, the event will return in 2022 on the 16th of October.
